Jim and Joan Hensen began Foxglen Farm in 1982, focusing on development of both horse and rider. If you are looking for quality instruction and care in a beautiful setting, this could be the place for you. We believe in the careful development of both horse and rider as a partnership through classical education. Each student's goals are evaluted and a program of lessons and horse shows is then designed just for them. Whether you are just beginning your riding career, or ready to ride in the Grand Prix, you can realize your goals here at Foxglen!
Jim has won many Hunter championships throughout his career including Devon and Pennsylvania National Horse Show at Harrisburg. He enjoys the jumpers as well, having placed often as well as winning at the Grand Prix level. He also shows breeding classes and has received many national awards showing young horses in hand.
Joan has been teaching for over 26 years. She has been fortunate to learn under great teachers such as George Morris, R. Scot Evans and Ronnie Mutch. Her students have won many state and zone year end championships as well as ribbons in Equitation Finals, National Junior Hunter Finals and Pony Hunter Finals, Devon and the prestigious "indoor" horse shows.
Kathryn Luke joined the staff as an assistant trainer in January of 2008, having previously been a working student for Foxglen Farm. She was also a working student at River Wind Farm while attending MIT as an undergraduate. During her junior career, she was AQHA Reserve World Champion in the Junior Jumper Division as well as qualifying for several Equitation Finals.
